Calvin Kam, Ph.D

Calvin is a data scientist of Blueinno Technology, and Technical Leader of Blueinno’s AI Division, specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision. He also takes up various coaching and research initiatives, such as AI development projects between Blueinno and NVIDIA.

Deeply believing in the benefits of technology to the world, Calvin has been innovating new products, such as surgical instrument counting, coral recognition, and face mask detection with AI camera algorithm and computer vision technology, which are beneficial to public organizations, NGOs, and private corporations. He also endeavors to inspire Blueinno's students with his cutting-edge knowledge and skills through various product co-development projects.

My research interests include Computer Vision with Artificial Intelligence, Smart Healthcare, Sensor Fusion and EduTech.

I obtained my Ph.D. degree in Department of Computer Science and Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. During my studies, I am supervised by Prof. Leung Kwong Sak and Prof. Wong Kin Hong, with the focus in Computer Vision.

Previously I was a research assistant in Department of Computer Science, Hong Kong Baptist University. Working in Research Centre for Ubiquitous Computing, I was assisting my supervisor, Prof. Joseph Ng and some post-doctoral fellows to perform experiments and research works. My previous works were on Location-based Tracking using WiFi signal strength.
